How to do it
Take a lump of clay and shape it into the desired figure.
Make eyes and mouth using a marker cap or other round object.
Create details with a pointed bamboo stick.
Small twigs can be used for hair and/or arms.
Allow to dry for 2-4 days until the figure is fully hardened.
Paint the figure with acrylic paint. Apply one or two coats and allow to dry.
If desired, add a coat of varnish.
Remember that self-hardening clay dries faster than regular clay. If it starts drying before you're finished, simply add a little water. You can also use water to smooth out any small cracks, etc.
Before the figure is completely hardened, you can add small details like patterns and small indentations.
