How to do it
Brushes and start-up Guide step %d Divide the children into groups of 4 children who will work together on each painting on a tarpaulin, e.g. measuring 3 x 2 m. Make long brushes from wide brushes (about 5 cm wide brushes) by attaching them to broom handles or thick bamboo sticks.
2 Guide step %d Each student must choose a photograph of an animal to be the starting point for the figure they want to paint. Place the tarpaulin on the floor and paint the figures' outlines with the long brushes and studio-quality acrylic paint, as the children have to work from opposite sides/corners.
Teamwork Guide step %d Let the children decide along the way whether the figures should meet and how the space should be distributed so that the painting becomes a whole.
Short brushes in full swing Guide step %d Move the tarpaulin to the wall and hang it stretched out. The children can now continue working with tbroad brushes without extension and can also start painting the background of the painting.
Details Guide step %d Paint details with slightly narrower brushes that are approx. 3 cm. The children can agree on areas in the background and colours that can contrast with the colours of the figures – e.g. by using complementary colours and mixing in white, etc.
