Lanterns decorated with a Colour Gradient

1 Carefully remove the handle from the lantern. Apply to clean and greasy-free items. Mix white and blue paint to a middle shade and dab the paint all the way around the middle of the lantern using a sponge. Only dab very lightly for a neat result. Take care not to dab too many times in the same place to prevent small half-dried flakes from coming off.

2 Dab one half of the same sponge in neat blue paint and the other half of the sponge in the mixed paint again. Dab all the way around the bottom part of the lantern with the neat blue paint at the bottom. This way the two shades are mixed together.

3 Use the same method as in the previous step using a new sponge and white paint on one half of the sponge and the mixed paint on the other half of the sponge. Let the paint dry for 4 hours. Fix the lantern in the oven at 160°C (not pre-heated) for 90 min. Leave the lantern in the oven to cool before re-attaching the handle.
