The felting needle has small barbs that, when inserted up and down through the carded wool, make the wool’s fibres felt together. The foam felt mat protects the tip of the felting needle when felting. Place a piece of wool on top of the foam felt mat. Insert a felting needle into the wooden holder and then insert the needle upside down vertically through the wool. The more times this is repeated, the firmer the felting. Add more wool and mould figures in the desired shapes and colours.
Want to try out the traditional handicraft of needle felting? The kit comes with materials for hours of creative immersion, so you can create beautiful figures or dolls out of pure wool. The set can be used by both school-age children and adults and requires no preparation. If you also want to try felting pictures, it is advisable to add felt in A4 size, for example, which is felted on top to create the look you want. Do you have any polystyrene items lying around? If so, you can actually felt the wool on top of them using the felting needle
