How to do it
Guide step %d For this painting technique, use a 4-litre freezer bag. Start by tying a knot on the end of the bag (the closed end).
Guide step %d Put your hand into the bag and grab the knot from inside the bag.
Guide step %d Pull the knot and flip the bag inside out, so that the knot is now inside the bag.
Guide step %d Inflate the bag and twist the end together to make a 'balloon'.
Guide step %d Tie a knot on top.
Guide step %d Hold the knot firmly and twist the bag as much as possible with your other hand.
Guide step %d Paint brush strokes from the middle outwards to create the desired size and colour for the flower. It may be a good idea to practice the printing technique on a piece of paper/cardboard before making the final image on canvas.
Guide step %d Now press the bag down on the stretch canvas using slight pressure where you want your flower design.
Guide step %d Carefully remove the bag. Paint the bag again to print a new flower. Use a new bag for each colour if you don't want the colours to mix together.
Guide step %d Use a small brush to paint small dots in the centre of the flowers.
Guide step %d When the painting is dry, you can embroider details with embroidery thread. Thread a needle with embroidery thread in the desired colour and tie a knot on the end.
Guide step %d Now insert the needle through the canvas from the back.
Guide step %d Pull the thread up and insert the needle through the canvas again to form a stitch.
Guide step %d Repeat until the centre of the flower is filled with crisscross stitches.
Guide step %d Fasten off the end on the back by pulling the needle through the stitches a few times.
Guide step %d Cut off the excess thread.
Guide step %d Now embroider stitches on the stems and leaves however you want.
Guide step %d Fasten off the ends on the back.
Guide step %d Remove the protective paper from the self-adhesive pads.
Guide step %d Place an adhesive pad in each corner on the back of the canvas.
Guide step %d Press the canvas into the wooden frame.
