#v17226

Give the wooden figures a personal look with embroidery. Each figure is embroidered with acrylic yarn and decorated with beads and pompoms. The butterfly is made as a bag pendant with a key ring, and the shell and rainbow have been given a suction cup so they can hang in a window and create beautiful plays of colour.

How to do it
Guide step %d Cut a piece of yarn in the desired colour to sew with. Sew with max. 50 cm of cord. Thread the needle and tie a double knot at the end of the yarn.
Guide step %d Start from the back so that the knot is hidden here. Insert the needle up through the first hole and down into the hole next to it.
Guide step %d Insert the needle up through the next hole and down through the hole from before.
Guide step %d Continue stitching. Add a pompom at the first notch by piercing the needle through the pompom and pulling it onto the cord.
Guide step %d Pull the pompom all the way down to the motif and continue sewing.
Guide step %d Continue until you have sewed half of the butterfly’s wing with the pink yarn.
Guide step %d Sew the end at the back by passing the needle through the previous stitches. Cut the yarn.
Guide step %d Thread a piece of green yarn and tie a double knot at the end. Start from the back and continue sewing with the green thread.
Guide step %d Use the same technique to sew the other wing and the feeler horns.
Guide step %d Insert the key ring through one of the holes at the top of the butterfly.
Guide step %d Attach the key ring with chain.
Guide step %d Use the same technique as before to sew four coloured stripes in the rainbow.
Guide step %d Sew the ends on the back by winding the needle around the previous stitches. Cut the yarn.
Guide step %d Thread the needle with a piece of light blue yarn and tie a double knot at the end. Start by piercing the needle through the first hole from the back to save the knot. Now sew the pompoms into the cloud by piercing the needle through one pompom at a time.
Guide step %d Now insert the needle through the hole next to it.
Guide step %d Continue this all around the cloud until it is covered with pompoms.
Guide step %d Fasten the end on the back and cut the thread.
Guide step %d Repeat on the other cloud.
Guide step %d Cut 35 cm of cord for hanging. Use the needle to thread the string through the two middle holes on the top of the rainbow as shown.
Guide step %d Now pass the needle through the hole on the suction cup so that the yarn is pulled through it.
Guide step %d Attach the needle to the other end of the yarn and pull it through the hole in the suction cup from the opposite side.
Guide step %d Adjust the ends to equal length and tie a double knot at the top of the suction cup.
Guide step %d Tie a knot at the top.
Guide step %d Thread a piece of turquoise yarn and tie a double knot at the end. Insert the needle through the first hole from the back so that the knot is hidden here. Put the needle back into the hole next to it.
Guide step %d Make small stitches by continually piercing the needle from the back through the next free hole and down into the hole next to it.
Guide step %d Embroider the turquoise on every other strip of the mussel.
Guide step %d Sew the end at the back by sewing through the previous stitches as shown.
Guide step %d Cut off the end.
Guide step %d Now sew the other stripes with pink yarn. Put a bead on the string after the first two stitches and skip two holes before continuing to sew.
Guide step %d Also attach a bead in the middle after the first two stitches. Jump over two holes again to make room for the bead.
Guide step %d Repeat with the last bead. Sew the rest of the strip and sew ends on the back.
Guide step %d Now cut 35 cm of yarn for hanging and 20, 25 and 20 cm of yarn for pendants, respectively.
Guide step %d Tie a knot at the end of each ribbon. Now use the needle to thread pompoms and beads onto the cords. Start with a pompom on each cord.
Guide step %d Attach the pendant to the shell by threading the thread through the bottom hole from the front.
Guide step %d Tie a double knot on the ends.
Guide step %d Sew the end and cut the yarn.
Guide step %d Use the same technique as the rainbow to make the Suction Cup Hanger.
